In the Spring of 1988, five mothers who had children enrolled in the Mehlville School District's Parents as Teachers (PAT) Program formed the Mehlville Organization for Mothers' Support or MOMS Club. The membership was open to any mother with a child enrolled in the Mehlville School District Early Childhood/Parents as Teachers Program. The purpose of the group was to provide support to PAT. It was decided that the MOMS Club would donate any excess money that was not used for club expenses to PAT. The MOMS Club members began hosting field trips, Easter Egg hunts, and other activities previously coordinated by PAT. In addition regularly scheduled meeting provided members with an informative and entertaining evening out. As the years passed, membership in the MOMS Club grew tremendously! As the membership grows, the MOMS Club continues to provide additional benefits to both its members and the community. Membership benefits include access to playgroups, field trips, three holiday parties, and an informative monthly newsletter. Through the hard work and dedication of many members in our group, the MOMS Club has been able to provide to the Mehlville School District EC/PAT Program a substantial donation of as much as $5000-11,000 in a year. It is a bond that enables each and every one of us to be a part of the lives of so many families in our community and make many lasting friendships.
